Research Website: Elliot Erwitt and Zak Van Biljon.

This website research will assist me in understanding how to create my own website so I will consider the overall design, colours, and typography, navigation, usability/user-friendliness, links and mobile view.I will begin the Elliot Erwitt Website. I will begin homepage design. The homepage looks interesting but keep old fashion. Everything is kept in black and white colors, but clearly. This is the website of a well-known photographer as you can see from the opening photo. Very clear menu on the right. The photos on the main page are changing every now and then to show newer exhibitions and works of art.

I then went onto navigation and that is this same slide page. It continues to show an exhibition of the artist's works, where you can admire his works.

Clicking on the gallery we see 4 photos showing 4 different types of photographs "Snaps", "Dogs", "Colour" and "Public Figures" . The icons of the images are black and white, but the icon with the word color is in color, which gives a good effect to this tab.

In the "About" tab we have a black painting and a short description of the artist, when he was born, what kind of background he was, where he lived.

The Social Media connects to Instagram. He have 280K followers and 671 posts. It also leads us to Magnum Profile. This is a profile on the Magnum website, where his works are exhibited.

I then checked the mobile website and this was clear and legibly. Going to the other tabs also was not a problem, everything was in place in the center and clearly, to be honest with the mobile phone it looks better like from your computer. I will back to this website because start looking interesting.

The second website I looked at was Zak Van Biljon. I will begin with homepage not very famous in our parts of glob. To be honest, I've never heard of him, but I liked his photographs. I will be explore that website now. The homepage/ Project is really clear and readable. On the top left is written his name and on the right side there is a bar with tabs and icons for social media. Each image/tab when you move the mouse cursor shows us an inscription about what this area is related. For example "Liquide Mimesis", "Civilization" and more.

A second page on the navigation was Exhibition. When you click on this area you will be able to see a lot of different information about exhibitions and events. You can see that he is a very hard-working artist and people like his work ...

The next page was Info. Info. There you can review Basic information about the photographer, first of all, what kind of photos and where they are taken.

The next tab is Contact. You can easily and easily contact the artist, either through the application form, by phone number or email.

Not forgetting the icons of instagram and Linkedin. Going to Instagram we see the profile picture of the artist, in addition to that we have information that he has 21.8K followers and 433 posts. Instagram also looks very bright and clear, and the artist's works are also posted there.

Linkedin looks little bit different and less encouraging. There is short information's about artist ,what he do where will be incoming events, activity and links related wit his professions.

When we go to its website also on the phone, we can still see a clear picture of all the tabs and photos. By accessing its website also on the phone, we can still see a clear picture of all the tabs and pictures.
To be honest, I liked his website in terms of photography, but not in terms of the options he has. It's modernized and it certainly has all the relevant information, but it didn't inspire me personally. It's not something I'm looking for for my website. Definitively previous website was more interesting for me , this same like second one does' was inspire but better like that one. Comparing both website I see a lot of convergence and differences. Use of background and colors. Mr . Elliot website was more in dark colours prior to the home page background but rest design was really interesting, a large number of photography. When exploring the website special from the mobile phone. Zak's website was more bright and also have short list of photography and was more simplistic. I mean tags does interest me and they didn't grab my attention. Mobile view everything was correctly placed and localized font was readable in general to modern. Both website have positive and negatives but I can definitely recommend this first website.

  1. Good that you looked at both of these in some technical detail but consider also how this made you consider the design of your own website
